SUMMARY:2nd OSCARS Open Call for Open Science Projects & Services
DESCRIPTION:Summary \nOn Friday\, 15 November 2024\, from 11:00 to 12:30 CET\, join us online for the launch of the 2nd OSCARS Open Call for Open Science projects and services. \nDescription \nThis Open Call is the last of the two calls (total worth ~16 million EUR) foreseen in the frame of OSCARS to support research communities from any scientific domain to take up open science and foster the involvement of scientists in EOSC.  \nThe 1st OSCARS Open Call concluded in July resulting in a total of 58 projects being selected for funding. Some of them will be presented during the event.  \nParticipants will learn more about the scope and content of the call\, and will have the chance to raise any question about its scope\, content\, conditions\, and the application process.  \nResearchers from all scientific disciplines are welcome to apply to the 2nd OSCARS Open Call before January 15th\, 2025\, with proposals for the development of Open Science projects or services\, that together will drive the uptake of FAIR-data-intensive research throughout the European Research Area (ERA).  \nProjects are funded with a lump sum between 100\,000 and 250\,000 EUR\, and can be proposed in the fields of any of the Science Clusters and beyond\, by any researcher or group of researchers.  \nBy the end of OSCARS\, it is expected that a series of valuable scientific results and new services will be available\, leading to an increased uptake of Open Science by researchers and to promote cross-border and cross-domain cooperation in the long run. \nWhy attend? \nTo learn about OSCARS and the funding opportunity given by the 2nd OSCARS Open Call for Open Science projects and services. \nTo ask any question about the call\, and get useful answers to increase the chances of submitting a successful proposal. \nWho should attend? \nResearchers from all scientific disciplines \nData scientists \nMembers of research infrastructures  \nTo register\, visit the official OSCARS webpage.

SUMMARY:I4NG Workshop: Open Science and Reproducible Research in RStudio and Jupyter Notebook
DESCRIPTION:Summary \nAs part of the Infra4NExtGen project ADP is hosting a workshop in which participants will learn the basics of Open Science and reproducible research by lgetting to know workflows in RStudio\, Jupyter Notebooks and GIT. The workshop is held from 9-11:30 the first day\, 9:30 to 13:30 the second day. Speaker 1 : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Franz Eder\, Department of Political Science (University of Innsbruck) – Speaker 2 : Anita Bodlos\, MA (University of Innsbruck) \nDescription \nIn the first part of this two-day workshop\, participants will learn the basics of open science and reproducible research. They will learn the difference between replicability and computational reproducibility\, know what FAIR data is\, and be aware of how to handle personal and sensitive data. In the second part\, the participants learn the basic reproducible research workflow for the three main stages of research (i.e. data acquisition\, data processing\, and data analysis) by using tools such as RStudio\, Jupyter Notebooks\, and the version control system GIT. Participants will know how to organize a research project using RStudio and Jupyter Notebooks\, how to use Quarto and Markdown for documenting the research steps\, how to organize files and folders\, and how to use the version control system GIT for collaboration.
