SUMMARY:Introduction of the TTRAM Matrix Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Summary \n\n\n\nThe FIDELIS project aims to support and guide repositories in becoming more trustworthy. Before effective support can be developed and delivered\, we need to better understand repositories’ activities and functions and the dimensions of trustworthiness.  \n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\n\nPreservation\, trust\, and repository are all concepts that need some clarification. There is a need to reach consensus on the characteristics that trustworthy digital repositories (TDRs) should possess in the EOSC context. \n\n\n\nTo this end\, FIDELIS is iteratively developing the Transparent Trustworthy Repository Attributes Matrix (TTRAM). At the most simple and basic level\, TTRAM provides a structure and reference for the FIDELIS and EDEN projects and for the emerging FIDELIS network and can act as a reference model for wider alignment and cooperation across repositories in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). \n\n\n\nTTRAM will support: \n\n\n\n\nCollecting information in a logical and reusable way\,\n\n\n\nUnderstanding the wide variety of repository types and the curation practices being undertaken by repositories\,\n\n\n\nSharing structured information for consultation and use\,\n\n\n\nDesigning and implementing a functional network of mutual support and aligned practice.\n\n\n\n\nThe FIDELIS team held a webinar for invited participants on April 4th\, 2025 to introduce the first draft of the TTRAM and get initial feedback.  \n\n\n\nInstead\, the upcoming webinar will provide the most recent version of TTRAM and will allow for a wider pool of interested parties to provide feedback on the next iteration. The webinar will take place on 17th of June\, from 12:00 to 13:30 CEST.

SUMMARY:Open Science Café: CROSSDA – Hrvatski arhiv podataka za društvene znanosti
DESCRIPTION:Centar za otvorenu znanost i upravljanje znanstvenim informacijama (COZ) Sveučilišne knjižnice Rijeka organizira još jedan Open Science Café koji će se održati u utorak\, 1. srpnja 2025. godine u 12:00 sati na platformi MS Teams. Predstavljanje arhiva CROSSDA održat će Marijana Glavica\, voditeljica arhiva CROSSDA i Vedran Halamić\, stručnjak za anonimizaciju i upravljanje podacima u arhivu CROSSDA. \n\n\n\nCROSSDA je nacionalna istraživačka infrastruktura koja se bavi dugoročnim očuvanjem i pružanjem na korištenje istraživačkih podataka u društvenim znanostima. Svoj rad temelji na međunarodnim standardima i najboljim praksama koji se njeguju unutar konzorcija CESSDA ERIC\, pan-europske istraživačke infrastrukture koja povezuje arhive podataka za društvene znanosti diljem Europe. Skupovi podataka opremaju se bogatom dokumentacijom i standardiziranim metapodatkovnim opisima\, a istraživačima se pruža podrška u upravljanju podacima tijekom cijelog istraživačkog ciklusa. CROSSDA promiče otvoreni pristup podacima. Za podatke čija je otvorena distribucija rizična\, primjenjuju se posebne licencije koje dopuštaju njihovo korištenje u znanstvene ili nastavne svrhe. Na taj se način osigurava da svi podaci budu dostupni u skladu s načelima FAIR. \n\n\n\nU predavanju ćemo objasniti proceduru pohrane podataka u arhiv CROSSDA i kako treba podatke prirediti za pohranu. Demonstrirat ćemo predaju podataka i metapodataka i pojasniti kako osoblje arhiva osigurava njihovu kvalitetu. Predstavit ćemo standardne ugovore između pohranitelja i arhiva u kojima se definiraju licencije za korištenje pohranjenih baza podataka. Pokazat ćemo kako pronaći podatke pohranjene u arhivu CROSSDA\, u drugim europskim arhivima te one koji nastaju u međunarodnim komparativnim istraživanjima. Objasnit ćemo kako zatražiti pristup zaštićenim podacima i ukazati na Opće uvjete korištenja podataka koje korisnici moraju prihvatiti prije korištenja podataka. Na kraju\, naglasit ćemo i važnost citiranja podataka u skladu sa smjernicama konzorcija CESSDA\, što je ključno za priznavanje autorstva i transparentnost istraživanja. \n\n\n\nMarijana Glavica\, prof. psih.\, zaposlena je na Filozofskom fakultetu u Zagrebu gdje trenutno obavlja dužnost voditeljice Hrvatskog arhiva podataka za društvene znanosti (CROSSDA) – nacionalne javne infrastrukture za istraživačke podatke. Iskustvo i stručnost u upravljanju podacima i njihovom arhiviranju stekla je kroz sudjelovanje u nekoliko međunarodnih projekata u suradnji s Konzorcijem europskih arhiva podataka za društvene znanosti (CESSDA ERIC) te kroz pohađanje brojnih radionica i predavanja na tu temu. \n\n\n\nVedran Halamić\, mag. soc.\, diplomirao je na Filozofskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu\, gdje je i zaposlen od 2020. godine u Hrvatskom arhivu podataka za društvene znanosti (CROSSDA). ESRA aims to be as inclusive as possible\, promoting in particular the participation of doctoral students and other early-career researchers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\n\nThe 11th Conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA) will take place from 14th July to 18th July 2025. Guided group sessions support preliminary analyses and the preparation of short presentations or visual summaries. He has experience in managing research projects in Hungarian and international contexts and was lead researcher in a number of comparative research projects on social structure and inequalities. \n\n\n\nDr. Yuliya Kazakova is a research fellow for GGP based at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI KNAW). Her work centres on the Make it Equal and Make it Strong pillars in the Infra4NextGen project. This involves close collaboration with leading European academics\, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre experts\, and the Youth Board to engage young Europeans in data-driven discussion on key issues for future generations. Yuliya’s research interests lie in the field of health economics together with the evaluation of public policies with a particular focus on childhood health\, childhood poverty and maternal employment. \n\n\n\nDr. Ruxandra Comănaru is a research fellow at the European Social Survey HQ based at City St George’s\, University of London. She is primarily working on the Make it Green pillar within the Infra4NextGen project\, as well as coordinating the collaboration between the other strands of the project. Ruxandra’s research interests include the design and adaptation of surveys for mixed modes of data collection\, with a focus on enhancing the methodological accuracy of self-completion methods. She is also interested in questionnaire design\, translation and cultural equivalence of research concepts. \n\n\n\nDr. David Consolazio is Assistant Professor at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Milan. Within the Infra4NextGen project\, he works mainly on the Make it Digital and Make it Healthy pillars. David’s research interests lie at the intersection of sociology\, epidemiology\, and urban studies\, focusing on the interplay of individual and contextual-level factors in shaping health and social outcomes\, with particular attention on the social determinants of health and residential segregation phenomena.

The webinars  are specifically designed for researchers in the humanities and social sciences who collect and/or process research data in the Swiss context. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe next webinar entitled Reproducibility\, Linked Open Data & Semantic Interoperability will take place on May 21\, 2026 (2:00-3:30 pm). This webinar will be hosted by Rita Gautschy (DaSCH) and Emilie Morgan de Paula (FORS). It will explore how reproducibility in the social sciences and semantic interoperability in the humanities can be strengthened through shared data infrastructures and linked open data approaches. The webinar will also introduce the broader context of the replication crisis and present some research practices that aim to improve transparency and verifiability in the research process. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn how structured\, machine-readable data and persistent identifiers enable transparent research workflows\, facilitate data reuse\, and support the verification of research results. The session will also discuss practices that support reproducible research in the social sciences\, such as sharing analysis code\, pre-registration\, and the use of preprints to promote transparency in the research and publication process. At the same time\, the talk highlights the role of semantic models and linked data in connecting heterogeneous humanities datasets across institutions and disciplines. \n\n\n\nRegister here.

For those interested in data analysis techniques\, we offer courses on causal inference\, latent variable modeling\, and data science techniques for analyzing both survey and big data. Finally\, you can also learn about survey sampling and weighting.  \n\n\n\nIn addition to our one-week courses\, we offer two- to three-day short courses. This year\, you can discover methods for pretesting survey questions as well as for aggregating evidence over multiple studies\, and you can enhance your knowledge of how to use DAGs for causal inference.
