DESCRIPTION:Summary\n\n\n\nThe workshop combines short expert presentations with guided\, hands-on group activities\, encouraging exchange between academic researchers and policy experts. Participants explore key theoretical frameworks\, relevant European social data\, and practical approaches to applied social research that inform inclusive and equitable policymaking. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\n\nSpeakers:\n\n\n\n\nProfessor Susan Banducci\, University of Birmingham\n\n\n\nDr. István György Tóth\, Tárki Social Research Institute\n\n\n\nDr. Francesco Berlingieri\, Joint Research Centre\, European Commission\n\n\n\nDr. Yuliya Kazakova\, GGP\, Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute\n\n\n\nDr. Ruxandra Comănaru\, ESS\, City St George’s\, University of London\n\n\n\nDr. David Consolazio\, EVS\, University of Milan\n\n\n\n\nMake it Equal is an interactive workshop introducing the Equal Pillar of the NextGeneration Programme\, with a focus on how social science research can support policies that reduce inequalities\, promote social inclusion\, and ensure equal opportunities for the young generation across Europe. \n\n\n\nAcademic experts introduce the core concepts and models underpinning the Equal Pillar\, alongside an overview of major European surveys such as the European Social Survey (ESS)\, European Values Study (EVS)\, Generations and Gender Programme (GGP)\, and the CRONOS-3 dataset. Experts from the Joint Research Centre (JRC) share insights into how social research is used to support evidence-based policies that foster inclusion\, equality\, and fairness for young people in Europe. \n\n\n\nParticipants work in small groups to develop policy-relevant research questions\, identify suitable data sources\, and outline feasible analytical strategies. Guided group sessions support preliminary analyses and the preparation of short presentations or visual summaries. The workshop concludes with group presentations and discussion\, promoting reflection on research design\, findings\, and next steps. \n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\n\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nApply theoretical frameworks and European social data to research questions on social inclusion\, equality\, and reducing inequalities among young people\n\n\n\nFormulate feasible and policy-relevant research questions\, including appropriate data and analytical choices\n\n\n\nCommunicate preliminary research findings clearly to academic and policy audiences\, with a focus on advancing a more equitable European society\n\n\n\nThis workshop is well suited for participants interested in collaborative\, practice-oriented learning at the intersection of social research and policymaking\n\n\n\n\nRegister via Zoom\n\n\n\nThis event is organised by ADP – Slovenian Social Science Data Archives. \n\n\n\nAbout the speakers\n\n\n\nSusan Banducci is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Birmingham and fellow of the British Academy and the Academy of Social Sciences. SUMMARY:FORS-DaSCH webinar series: Data Management for the Social Sciences and Humanities
DESCRIPTION:FORS and the Swiss National Data and Service Center for the Humanities (DaSCH) offer a series of free online data management webinars. The webinars  are specifically designed for researchers in the humanities and social sciences who collect and/or process research data in the Swiss context. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe next webinar entitled Reproducibility\, Linked Open Data & Semantic Interoperability will take place on May 21\, 2026 (2:00-3:30 pm). This webinar will be hosted by Rita Gautschy (DaSCH) and Emilie Morgan de Paula (FORS). It will explore how reproducibility in the social sciences and semantic interoperability in the humanities can be strengthened through shared data infrastructures and linked open data approaches. The webinar will also introduce the broader context of the replication crisis and present some research practices that aim to improve transparency and verifiability in the research process. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn how structured\, machine-readable data and persistent identifiers enable transparent research workflows\, facilitate data reuse\, and support the verification of research results. The session will also discuss practices that support reproducible research in the social sciences\, such as sharing analysis code\, pre-registration\, and the use of preprints to promote transparency in the research and publication process. At the same time\, the talk highlights the role of semantic models and linked data in connecting heterogeneous humanities datasets across institutions and disciplines. \n\n\n\nRegister here.

SUMMARY:GESIS Summer School in Survey Methodology
DESCRIPTION:If you are interested in survey design and implementation\, you may explore factorial survey design\, advanced questionnaire design\, or advanced survey design. You can also learn about bots used in web studies and discover AI tools that support different stages of the survey research process. For those interested in data analysis techniques\, we offer courses on causal inference\, latent variable modeling\, and data science techniques for analyzing both survey and big data. Finally\, you can also learn about survey sampling and weighting.  \n\n\n\nIn addition to our one-week courses\, we offer two- to three-day short courses. This year\, you can discover methods for pretesting survey questions as well as for aggregating evidence over multiple studies\, and you can enhance your knowledge of how to use DAGs for causal inference. If you are looking to expand your software skills\, you can choose between our courses on introduction to Stata or R.  \n\n\n\nOur Summer School offers a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field\, and to network with peers who share your interests. Join us for a stimulating and engaging experience that will take your skills and knowledge to the next level.  \n\n\n\nSince 2012\, we have been organizing Europe’s leading Summer School covering survey methodology\, research design\, and data collection and analysis. Initially held exclusively at GESIS in Cologne\, Germany\, we expanded to online options in 2020. This setup brings together lecturers and participants from all over the world and many different fields\, fostering a collaborative\, global learning environment. \n\n\n\nReasons to attend \n\n\n\nAs a graduate or PhD student\, post-doc\, junior or senior researcher\, or survey professional\, you will: \n\n\n\n\nreceive high quality training in state-of-the-art techniques and methods of survey research.\n\n\n\nobtain a comprehensive overview of different survey methods or delve deeply into niche topics of interest to you.\n\n\n\nacquire essential skills in how to design\, plan\, conduct\, and document all kinds of surveys.\n\n\n\ngain insights into survey data collection processes.\n\n\n\nlearn techniques for analyzing survey data and assessing data quality.\n\n\n\nnetwork with peers from different fields and from all over the world to discuss research and share ideas.\n\n\n\n\nWe are happy to assist you!\n\n\n\nShould you be unsure which course is the right one for you\, please do not hesitate to contact us. \n\n\n\nPrerequisites\n\n\n\nEach course has specific prerequisites\, which will be detailed on the course webpages. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, you are expected to: \n\n\n\nhave a good command of English. \n\n\n\nhave a basic knowledge of empirical research methods.
